Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics
Winner(s) of the week: Lana Cretul and Ellen Cannon. Until Marco Rubio explained that it was fine to charge his wife's plane tickets to GOP donors because she was "First Lady of the Florida House" we confess we didn't know such a title (or accompanying perks) existed. Our bad. Now that Rubio has explained the entitlements of legislative leadership, the spouses of the current and incoming speaker can take full advantage of the royal treatment that is their due. Runner up: American Express. Talk about a motherlode of free publicity. In Florida, big shot Republicans didn't leave home without it, and donors paid their bills no questions asked.
Loser of the week: Marco Rubio. Sorry someone leaked your private state party credit card statements, Marco. But we're confused. Can you explain again how when your personal car get dinged while parked at a GOP fundraiser you can get your party's donors to pay much of the expense? And can you tell the rest of us how we get the kind of treatment you did as House Speaker, Mr. anti-establishment insurgent?
