Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics
Winner of the week: Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Broward County U.S. representative, already a high-profile force in the Democratic Party, was tapped by President Obama to be chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. Democrats have a knack for internal squabbling and second-guessing, but this choice drew widespread applause by party leaders and activists.
Loser of the week: Rick Scott. Polls show him one of the least popular governors Florida has ever seen. Republican legislative leaders are ignoring his push to cut taxes — and they have the votes to overturn any veto. Now he's having to swallow a prescription drug database he adamantly opposed. Sorry Mr. CEO, but leading a company isn't the same thing as leading a state.
