Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics
Winner of the week: Disney. The entertainment giant and its allies have enough muscle in Tallahassee that supporters on Friday pulled the plug on a proposal to allow three $2 billion mega-casinos in South Florida. Runners up: Molly Donlin, Brett Doster, John Thrasher. There was a lot of pressure on Donlin and Doster, Romney's top Florida campaign operatives, to deliver after Gingrich's South Carolina win, and they delivered big time with help from a flood of TV ads. Sen. Thrasher was one of the first high profile elected officials to
jump on board with Romney when many others went with other candidates or waited to how things played out.
Loser of the week: Space program. Maybe Newt Gingrich's moon colony idea sounded a little flaky. But did the rest of the GOP presidential field have to so zealously ridicule the notion of a bold vision and significant investment in NASA?
