Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics
Winner of the week: Adam Putnam. The prospects of Putnam's renewable-energy bill surviving a veto by Gov. Rick Scott looked dicey as tea party activists demanded a veto. Apparently, Scott decided he did not want to go to war with the savvy agriculture commissioner and decided to let the bill become law without his signature. Runner up: Dave Aronberg. The Democratic former state senator raised a tidy $275,000 in the first quarter for his Palm Beach state attorney campaign, he continues to be unopposed and he's winning over prominent Republican backers.
Loser of the week: Allen West. The congressman representing Crazyville, Fla., last week declared that up to 81 Democrats in Congress are members of the Communist Party. But at least Sarah Palin thinks West would be the best choice for vice president. Runner up: George LeMieux. He raised just $350,000 in the last quarter for his U.S. Senate campaign, and now former Florida GOP finance chairman Harry Sargeant signed a sworn statement that LeMieux knew ex GOP Chairman Jim Greer had taken over fundraising duties for the party.
