Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics
Winner of the week: Connie Mack IV. Okay, so he looks more than a bit insecure refusing to debate credible primary opponents and declaring the nomination all but settled without wowing many people on the campaign trail. Still, Connie The Son now has the endorsements of Jeb Bush, Adam Putnam and Mitt Romney. He's leading in the polls by 20 points. The GOP Senate primary is starting to look like a foregone conclusion. Wouldn't a little debate practice help for the general?
Loser of the week:Janet Napolitano. Rick Scott has solidified his reputation for divisiveness by pushing for controversial hunts for ineligibvle voters in Florida even as local elections officials from both parties express qualms. But under Napolitano, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has yet to offer an explanation why it won't help Florida create a more accurate list of potential ineligible voters. No wants wants non-citizens casting votes, but Homeland Security won't even deign to explain it's refusal to assist
