Winner and Loser of the week in Florida politics
Winner of the week: Joe Garcia. There’s a big Republican head-wind facing Democratic candidates this year but, Garcia, the Democrat running for the open south Florida Congressional seat now held by Republican Lincoln Diaz-Balart, actually has a shot at winning. The latest bizarre Miami Herald story about Republican frontrunner
David Rivera -- that the U.S. Agency for International Development, which Rivera claimed as a his main source of income for seven years, has no record of Rivera working for them -- sure helped. Runner up: Joy-Ann Reid, the Democratic blogger, who uncovered the latest example of Marco Rubio mixing his political money with his personal life by trying to spend $1,500 in donor money on his sister-in-law's private school fundraising event.
Loser of the week: Kendrick Meek. The Democratic nominee for senator has had some spirited debate performances, but any week where a candidate has to keep insisting he won’t drop out of the race and is not doomed to defeat is a bad week. Bill Clinton can't get here fast enough.
