Young aide Cretekos to seek Clearwater seat

4

December

George Cretekos, a Sand Key resident who retired earlier this year after 35 years on the staff of U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, has qualified to run for a seat on the Clearwater City Council. A Pinellas county native, Cretekos served as Young's longtime District Assistant, which made him a liaison between local leaders and their man in Washington. Municipal elections take place in March.

"I have enjoyed the relationships I have developed with citizens from all walks of life and leaders at every level of government," Cretekos said in an announcement. "My entire life has been about public service and I would like to continue that service as a member of the Clearwater City Council."

Cretekos is going for Council Seat 3, formerly held by Hoyt Hamilton. He's the first candidate to qualify for the nonpartisan race. Qualifying ends Dec. 15
