Court weighs whether juries in death cases must be unanimous
The Florida Supreme Court revisits the subject of the death penalty Tuesday. Justices will hear oral arguments on the question of whether state prosecutors can seek the death penalty in the wake of a January decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that held the state's death penalty sentencing system to be unconstitutional.
Attorneys for Larry Darnell Perry, 31, of St. Cloud, claim that he cannot be punished by death. Perry is accused of first-degree murder and aggravated chiuld abuse in the death of his nearly-three-month-old son, Ayden, in 2013.
