Dan Webster pondering move into Rich Nugent's district
Rep. Dan Webster is considering moving into Florida's 11th Congressional District that fellow Republican Rich Nugent is vacating.
"Under the current maps, the district that I represent will be split six ways," Webster said in a statement. "During my time in public service, I have represented various parts of Central Florida, and am exploring all possibilities for future service."
Webster, of Winter Garden, owns a home in the district (Lake County) and would avoid what would be a very difficult effort to hang onto his current seat. Redistricting is expected to recast his 10th District into much more favorable terrain for Democrats.
Nugent announced Monday he will not run for re-election, attributing the decision to family. He immediately endorsed his longtime chief of staff, Justin Grabelle, who lives in Marion County.
Former state legislator Nancy Argenziano is at least considering a run, musing on Facebook how she used to represent parts of the district.
