Defense Secretary Ash Carter to visit Florida on Thursday
Defense Secretary Ash Carter will visit Miami and Tampa on Thursday, part of the Obama Administration’s push after the State of the Union.
Carter will meet to meet with leaders from U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command about the administration's plan for the campaign in Iraq and Syria to counter ISIL and ensure the safety of the American people, according to the White House.
Also Thursday, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz will begin Miami “to tour several energy grid projects to highlight the importance of investing in energy infrastructure in the face of a changing climate. Secretary Moniz will also discuss the role of clean energy in our economy and other actions that the Administration is taking on climate change. Secretary Moniz will also announce a major investment in research and development for grid technologies.”
A range of Obama officials are traveling the U.S. in a coordinated effort following the president’s final State of the Union.
