Disney ties run deep among Charlie Crist's top advisors
There is at least one striking common thread among Charlie Crist's closest circle of political advisers: They know what it means to sacrifice sweat and dignity to ensure guests enjoy the Happiest Place on Earth.
This occurred to us as Omar Khan arrived in the Tampa Bay area last week to manage Crist's gubernatorial campaign. Khan, a former USF student body president, has held any number of prominent titles with the Obama White House and presidential campaign, but one position stands out: dressing up as Tigger at Disney World.
Likewise, Crist's boss and political benefactor, personal injury lawyer John Morgan, knows what it's like to pay bills by donning an overheated Disney costume: Started as fiddler Pig. Moved quickly to King Louie. Made the big time as Pluto!!!!!!!!!!!!!," Morgan emailed.
Then there is Bob Poe, former Florida Democratic Party chairman and chairman of Crist's main campaign committee, Charlie Crist for Florida. Poe was among the earliest cast members at Disney, playing Tiger, Pooh, B'rer Fox and Pluto,
Said Morgan: "Happiest place on Earth. Same as the Crist campaign."
Disney, by the way, officially supports Rick Scott.
