Donald Trump responds to Marco Rubio's 'small hands' insult
During a quick campaign stop Tuesday at an airplane hangar in Columbus, Ohio, Donald Trump continued to heap abuse on Sen. Marco Rubio.
Trump began with his usual taunts about “Little Marco,” but then he brought up the incident in which Rubio said, “He's like 6'2, which is why I don't understand why his hands are the size of someone who is 5’2.”
Trump told the crowd, “He said I have small hands — actually I’m 6-3, not 6-2 — but he said I had small hands. They’re not small, are they? I never heard that one before. I’ve always had people say, ‘Donald you have the most beautiful hands.'"
“He wanted to be Don Rickles, but it hasn’t worked — he’s gone down,” said Trump, who was joined on stage by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Earlier in the day, Rubio addressed the trading of insults in an email to supporters.
“Believe me — I really never expected to be talking about spray tans while running for president,” Rubio wrote.
He said he tried the taunting tactic to draw more media attention to the need to stop Trump.
Rubio’s email said, “This is no joke. It’s time to fight back, because we’ve seen a scary side of Donald Trump.”
