Farkas endorses Peters, contractors endorse Jolly in Pinellas GOP congress race
Like hunters mounting their trophies, Republican congressonal candidates David Jolly and Kathleen Peters keep bagging more endorsements.
Peters announced the endorsement Monday of former Republican state Rep. Frank Farkas, who said, "even prior to becoming a public servant, Kathleen has a proven record of fighting for issues of great importance to the residents of Pinellas County."
Meanwhile Jolly announced the endorsement of Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. A representative said, "“David has a history of advocating for pro-business issues, specifically those impacting the commercial construction industry.”
Jolly, Peters and fellow Republican Mark Bircher are seeking the nomination in the Jan. 14 GOP primary. The winner will go on to face Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby in the March 11 general election.
They are seking the seat left vacant by longtime Republican U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died in October. The 13th Congressional District runs from south Pinellas to Dunedin, with portions of downtown and southern St. Petersburg cut out.
