Florida reaction to Mike Pence being named Donald Trump's running mate

July

Florida reaction to Mike Pence being named Donald Trump's running mate.

RPOF Chairman Blaise Ingoglia: “The Republican Party of Florida is excited that Governor Mike Pence will be joining the ticket with Mr. Trump. As a successful governor in Indiana, the Vice Presidential pick of Mike Pence will bring an added dimension to the race. We look forward to the Trump/Pence ticket that will make "Florida Red Again" and "Make America Great Again."

Rep. Dennis Ross: “I am pleased to see Donald Trump select Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, and I welcome him as the Republican vice presidential candidate. Gov. Pence is a strong conservative pioneer who will no doubt bring fiscally-responsible and pro-growth solutions to the table, as I have seen him do while serving with him in Congress and as the Governor of Indiana. I firmly believe a Trump-Pence Administration will be filled with leaders who share my conservative values to defend our Constitution and to accurately represent the voice of the American people.”

Incoming House Speaker Richard Corcoran: "I think that with the first major presidential-type decision that Donald Trump is faced with making that he made an excellent one. Hard-core conservatives like me are encouraged."

Marco Rubio on Twitter said Trump made a "Great pick. @mike_pence is rock solid."

Nadine Smith, Executive Director of Equality Florida: "Donald Trump and Mike Pence are a dynamic duo of discrimination. Pence upended his own Presidential aspirations by embracing one of the most backward anti-LGBT laws in the country. Trump supports federal legislation that would allow discrimination against the LGBT community and wants to undo marriage equality. They are a fitting team to represent the GOP platform that even Republicans are criticizing as the 'most anti-LGBT' in party history. Any hope that Trump would reject extremism in this election has been thrown out the window with this selection. We don’t need panicked, fearful, thin-skinned bullies in the White House. Hillary Clinton knows we are a stronger country when everyone gets a seat at the table. She will fight to ban discrimination against LGBT Americans and their families so they can live, learn, marry, and work just like everybody else."
