Florida trouble for Marco Rubio: Old supporters back Ted Cruz

In a sign of how Marco Rubio has antagonized some of once enthusiastic supporters in Florida, a diverse group of conservative activists in Florida today is com ing out in support of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. These are not household names in Florida, but the following list includes prominent names in the activist and conservative fundraising circuts - quite a few former supporters of Rubio and of Mitt Romney:

"With great respect for the strong bench of Republican Presidential candidates, Ted Cruz's record stands alone as the authentic conservative on issues of fiscal restraint, national security, foreign policy, religious liberty, illegal immigration, promise to eradicate Common Core as well as the U.S. Department of Education, repeal Obamacare, institute a flat tax and a pro-growth economic platform, uphold the Second Amendment and protect innocent human life, which is why we support Senator Cruz. He is the only candidate we can trust to keep his promises.

"With the recent death of heroic Constitutional Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia, Ted Cruz is the battled tested conservative to make the right appointments on the courts to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution, protect our Constitutional liberties and our national sovereignty.

Jacksonville businessman Mac McGehee, former State Co-Chair of the finance team of Marco Rubio for U.S  Senate, is backing Senator Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary. McGehee was also a member of the state finance team for Mitt Romney for President  '08 and '12 and ambassador of Romney's Social Conservatives for NEFL 2012, as well as state finance team for Gov. Rick Scott and former Florida governor, Jeb Bush.
