Gov. Rick Scott's reaction to Trump video
Gov. Rick Scott is slamming Donald Trump's comments about women from a 2005 conversation uncovered by the Washington Post, but is not giving any hints about whether he is re-thinking his support for the Republican nominee for president.
Scott has mostly deflected political questions during Hurricane Matthew, but released a statement making clear he disagrees with Trumps comments.
"I'm not following politics closely right now, but this is terrible. I don't agree with anyone talking like this about anyone, ever," Scott said in the statement to the media.
In Jacksonville this morning, Scott again stressed that what Trump said was "pretty disgusting."
"I think what he said is wrong," Scott said. I don't know why anybody would say things like that. I think it's absolutely wrong."
But simply opposing the comments is not likely to stop critics of Trump who are demanding Republicans supporting Trump pull their support from him. Scott has been one of Scott's biggest supporters in Florida, even chairing a political action committee that is raising money and running ads in support of Trump.
