Gov. Scott appoints Rep. Dave Hood to circuit judgeship
Gov. Rick Scott on Monday appointed state Rep. Dave Hood, R-Daytona Beach Shores, to a vacant circuit judgeship in the 7th circuit, which includes Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam counties.
Hood, 60, had announced long ago that he would forgo a re-election bid in order to run for a judgeship. His appointment ends his campaign to win election to the circuit bench.
Hood, whose full name is Charles David Hood Jr., is a former mayor and city commissioner in Ormond Beach. Former Gov. Charlie Crist appointed him to the Fifth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission in 2009. He got his law degree at the University of South Carolina.
