Illegal coordination by Bush campaign and Bush super PAC alleged in FEC complaint
The American Democracy Legal Fund, a Democratic-leaning watchdog group, has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Jeb Bush, his campaign, and his super PAC, Right to Rise USA, alleging illegal campaign coordination.
At the center of the complaint is an Iowa-based consulting firm, Redwave Communications, owned by Dave Kochel, a senior adviser and strategist on the campaign.
"Right to Rise and Mr. Bush’s campaign used a common vendor within 120 days of Right to Rise publicly disseminating two communications expressly advocating for Mr. Bush’s election in violation of the Act and Commission regulations," the complaint says.
“This is not the first time the Bush campaign and Right to Rise have potentially engaged in illegal coordination – this time by making in-kind contributions through the use of a common vendor," said Mary Jennings of the ADLF. "If Jeb Bush’s campaign can’t keep abreast of basic campaign finance law, how will he run a successful campaign for the presidency?”
