Jeb Bush a big loser at CPAC?
Ouch. Politico taps Marco Rubio as one of the big winners of the weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference and Jeb Bush as a big loser, suggesting it's a good thing for Bush that he had Al Cardenas take him off the straw poll ballot. From Politico's James Hohmann:
If the former Florida governor runs for president, he wants to do it on his terms. The problems with this approach were on display Friday night – when a lecture he delivered at CPAC’s Reagan Dinner fell painfully flat.
Eschewing a teleprompter, Bush read his 19-minute lecture from a black binder that felt like was trying to channel former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman. Many in the audience thumbed through BlackBerrys while he talked. He received only a polite, scattered standing ovation.
The appearance followed a book tour by Bush the week before that got very mixed reviews.
