Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, and Bobby Jindal commit to Fla GOP's Sunshine Summit
Florida Republican Party Chairman Blaise Ingoglia confirms that Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, and Bobby Jindal have committed to attend the party's Nov. 13-14 Sunshine Summit in Orlando.
"Their participation will help fire up Florida Republicans as we come together before 2016. The Sunshine Summit is a unique event where candidates will share their vision for the future of our nation with the more than 2,500 expected activists and grassroots leaders in one of the most influential primary and general election swing states. We look forward to announcing additional participating candidates as we draw closer to our event,” said GOP Chairman Ingoglia.
More names are likely to be announced later this week, but for those keeping score here's who so far has not been confirmed by the party: Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, and Donald Trump. Under newly enacted Florida GOP rules, no candidate will be placed on Florida's March 15 Republican presidential primary unless they either attend the summit, stroke a $25,000 check to the state party or gather signatures from 3,375 registered Republican voters including at least 125 registered Republican voters from each of Florida’s 27 Congressional Districts.
Bush: “I am excited to participate in the Republican Party of Florida's Sunshine Summit in my beloved home state. As governor of Florida, I led our state’s economy into the 21st century by shrinking government, creating high-wage jobs and cutting taxes by $19 billion. Florida is a critical state in both the primary and general elections. With the support of families and voters across Florida, I am committed to reforming Washington with the same principles and values that reformed our state,” said Governor Jeb Bush.
Rubio: "As a son of Florida, I am excited to speak at the Republican Party of Florida’s Sunshine Summit. More than ever our nation is ready for leadership that will lead us to economic opportunity and growth in a new American century. Our state and nation have offered me the opportunities that no other nation could, and now, through my conservative agenda we can restore the hope and promise of the American Dream.”
Graham: “I look forward to meeting the many Floridians who will attend the Sunshine Summit and discussing my plan to destroy and degrade radical Islam, win the war on terror, and protect American families."
Jindal: "“I’m honored to be heading to the Sunshine Summit in the battleground state of Florida. The American people are tired of Washington’s rhetoric and are ready for a leader that has a record of actually shrinking the size and cost of government."
