Jeff Brandes is 'taking the Tallahassee establishment to the woodshed'
Like most other Florida senators in the midst of a special redistricting legislative session, Republican Jeff Brandes of St. Petersburg doesn't yet know what district he's running in, who his constituents will be, whether he is likely to face a primary opponent (like state Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, for instance), a general election opponent (like state Rep. Dwight Dudley, D-St. Petersburg, for instance) or even whether he will be up for re-election in 2016.
But that's not stopping the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee from sending out mailers to promote Brandes among south Pinellas Republican voters. "A LEADER WHO IS TAKING THE TALLAHASSEE ESTABLISHMENT TO THE WOODSHED," the flier declares, in what may be a popular message for incumbents of all political stripes in this anti-establishment election cycle.
Also, "Jeff is praised by consumer advocate groups across the state," it says, noting Brandes' support from such renowned "consumer advocates" as the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity.
