Lopez-Cantera meets with Rubio in Washington
WASHINGTON - Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera was scheduled to meet this here morning with Sen. Marco Rubio.
The 10:15 a.m. meeting was on Lopez-Cantera's schedule and Rubio's office has not responded to a question about the gathering, which came before CLC was to attend the National Lieutenant Governor's Association federal-state relations meeting.
UPDATE 12:47 p.m.: A Rubio spokeswoman says, "They are personal friends and Senator Rubio always enjoys seeing him when he is in D.C."
CLC stepped out of the U.S. Senate race last year so Rubio could seek re-election after dropping out of the race for president.
Rubio has met with a number of state officials in recent weeks.
