Lucy Morgan on being the only woman in the trenches
An organization dedicated to improving the quality of investigative reporting recently interviewed "retired" Tampa Bay Times senior correspondent Lucy Morgan.
Morgan cleaned out her office in the Times' Tallahassee Bureau in January, but she still occassionally writes for the paper. In the video, Morgan talks about how she got her start in journalism, her Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation of the Pasco County sheriff and the time she dared to pursue a story everyone else ignored.
"From the women you believed," was the message on the card she received along with a bouquet of flower after her stories on jail abuses in Gulf County published.
The video was created as part of the Investigative Reporters and Editors organization's Oral History project on female investigative journalists.
