Mac Stipanovich seems to be on the fence about Donald Trump
Veteran Republican consultant J.M. "Mac" Stipanovich on Donald J. Trump today:
"I will fight Donald Trump and what he stands for to the convention, beyond the convention to November and beyond that, should he be elected, until he and his so called movement, which is based on anger, envy and ignorance, is cast into outer darkness."
A contested convention that blocked Trump from the nomination might tear the GOP apart, Stipanovich said, but "If that's what's required, so be it. His entire campaign has been one long dog whistle to bigots of various varieties. Think about the basic elements of fascism - nativism, hyper-nationalism, xenophobia, racism, anti-intellect, no fixed program, just a desire for power - the man's a fascist."
"I would fight him and do whatever it takes. The Republican party, it is an association of people with similar political views. It is not a cult. And if the Republican party loses its mind, or a majority of its members lose their minds, and go over a cliff I am not required to follow them."
