Marco Rubio 'incredibly disappointed' by Supreme Court decision on abortion
Sen. Marco Rubio says he is "incredibly disappointed" by today's Supreme Court decision striking down some abortion restrictions in Texas. Rubio's GOP primary rival, Carlos Beruff, reacted similarly.
“With the Supreme Court issuing its final opinions of this term, we were reminded again of just how high the stakes are when it comes to appointing Justice Scalia’s successor," Rubio said in a statement.
"Kermit Gosnell is a name we should never forget, given the atrocities he committed against women and unborn children in unsafe and unsanitary conditions that inspired this Texas law. I’m incredibly disappointed that the Supreme Court has struck down what I believe is an appropriate response to make sure that women and unborn children aren’t ever again subjected to the atrocities that took place in Kermit Gosnell’s facilities. At every level of government, we should be doing everything we can to protect women and unborn children who may fall prey to abortion clinics led by butchers like Kermit Gosnell.”
Beruff wrote on Twitter, #SCOTUS decisions like these are why we cannot allow @POTUS to replace Scalia with a left wing ideologue. https://t.co/f8o4Lvq6u0 #prolife

Here is Democratic Senate candidate Alan Grayson: “The Supreme Court’s decision not only strikes down an offensive Texas law designed to deny millions of women access to safe abortions, but it reaffirms the legal protections outlined in Roe v. Wade. This decision also shows how destructive it would be to allow Marco Rubio to maintain his power to approve future Supreme Court justices. Rubio favors restricting abortion access even in cases of rape and incest, and would unravel these vital health protections for women. I’ve consistently fought for reproductive rights in Washington, and in the face of protests, helped open a Planned Parenthood clinic in my own district. I will not waver in my commitment to keep abortion safe and legal.”
