More big names line up for Eric Lynn over Charlie Crist
It's still way too early to suggest that universally known former Gov. Charlie Crist is in trouble in his Democratic primary for the soon-to-be open south Pinellas congressional seat as he faces first-time candidate Eric Lynn in the Democratic primary. But as someone who lives in that districtnow represented by David Jolly and as I've noted before, there is A LOT of Crist fatigue, and Crist can't take the race foir granted.
Lynn, a former Defense Department official, is campaigning hard. Though his strong money-raising slowed after Crist formally jumped into the race, he is still piling up significant endorsements that underscore Crist's soft support. He is scheduled to fundraiser in Miami Monday organized by top Barack Obama money-raisers Freddy Balsera and Joe Falk.
HSN CEO Mindy Grossman recently hosted a reception for Lynn at her and Neil Grossman's St. Petersburg home. Others attending the Lynn event include Bloomin Brands CEO Liz Smith, Smith Realty CEO Bob Glaser, and C1 Bank CEO Trevor Burgess. Other Pinellas business leaders supporting Lynn's campaign include Steve Raymund of Tech Data, Michael Benstock of Superior Uniform Group, and developer Craig Sher, who serves as Lynn's Finance Chair.
