Neil Brickfield won't run for Congress
Former Pinellas Commissioner Neil Brickfield says he will not seek the Republican nomination to the congressional seat that was left vacant by th death of longtime U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young.
Brickfield said in a statement: "My passion for public service is only surpassed by my passion for my family. For the Brickfield family, try as hard as we could the timing to run is just not right therefore I will not be running. " He added that "I will be working hard for the Republican Party nominee!"
Former Young aide David Jolly is seeing the seat on the Republican side. Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby also are running.
