No oysters for you! Bill Nelson left out of Rick Scott's Apalachicola Bay tour
Sen. Bill Nelson is not known to miss a photo-op, so it seemed odd that he wasn't along for yesterday's tour of Apalachicola Bay with Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Steve Southerland.
Scott used the event for some serious news: Announcing that the state of Florida would file a lawsuit against Georgia over alleged "unchecked and growing consumption of water, which is threading the economic future of Apalachicola."
Where was Nelson? He was never invited. The Democrat learned about it from a news release Scott put out, a spokesman said.
Nelson was around, attending the U.S. Senate field hearing Tuesday on the problems facing the bay, stressing how he and Rubio work in a bipartisan fashion on state issues.
So what happened? Emails from the Buzz to Scott's press shop have gone unanswered.
UPDATE: A Scott spokeswoman says she is checking with their Washington office.
UPDATE 2 (5:45 p.m.) "A public notice was sent out a day before the event," said spokeswoman Jackie Schutz, not answering the question whether Sen. Nelson was inviited.
