Obama's Florida golfing buddies
President Obama played golf today at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City along with a group of friends (as provided by WH pool report)
- Departing USTR Ron Kirk
- Dr. Eric Whitaker, a longtime Chicago friend of POTUS
- Tony Chase, a Houston lawyer and fellow Harvard Law alum who raised money for POTUS during the campaign (pooler attended a fund-raiser at his River Oaks home last March)
- Jim Crane, a Houston businessman who owns both the Houston Astros and since 2010 the Floridian (which he bought from Wayne Huizenga). (pooler attended a fundraiser that Crane hosted that same March night at an annex of Minute Maid Park, the Astros' stadium.)
- Milton Carroll, another Houston businessman who is chairman of CenterPoint Energy, which is described as a public utility holding Company. Carroll has given money to POTUS campaigns.
WH spokesman Josh Earnest reports that Butch Harmon, the former swing coach of Tiger Woods, accompanied the group for several for holes and provided tips along the way - not that any of the group necessarily needed any. (Harmon and Woods parted ways in 2004 as not the best of friends)
