On the offense for Obamacare in Fla
Representataves of the Democratic groups Protect Your Care and Americans United for Change held a conference call today adding a little more detailed about their planned offensive in Florida and elsewhere to promote Obamacare and go after its critics.
"Republicans are on the wrong side of this, and theyre going to increasingly be on the wrong side of it as people begin to receive the benefits,'' said Brad Woodhouse of Americans United, taking particular aim at members of congress like Marco Rubio who would support shutting down government in order to de-fund Obamacare.
While polls shows the Affordable Care Act remains unpopular, supporters will change as more Americans start seeing the benefits soon and that key elements of the law - can't be denied for pre-existing conditions, no more "donut hole" coverage gap for seniors, more access to women's preventative health services - enjoy wide public support.
As like-minded groups including Enroll America work to enrolling people into insurance plans, this effort will take the offense against critics and tout the benefits of Obamacare. The two groups have hired staffers in 10 states (Jackie Lee in Florida) who will hold events at least every week, either promoting the health care reforms or protesting critics of it.
The other nine states include Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, and North Carolina.
