Opponents on both sides line up to rip Rubio
Here come the hits.
Marco Rubio’s likely entrance in the Senate race has triggered attacks from rivals in both parties. American Bridge released this highlight reel of Rubio promising to become a private citizen if his presidential campaign failed. The DSCC issued its own video. And Republican Carlos Beruff’s campaign this morning issued a scathing memo blasting Rubio as a Charlie Crist-like figure.
The Beruff memo:
"If he runs, Rubio will have become the very thing he opposed," reads the memo. "In 2010, the smart guys in Washington chose Charlie Crist as their candidate. Marco Rubio ignored them, and beat the politician chosen by Washington. Now the smart guys in Washington have chosen Rubio as their candidate. Carlos Beruff will ignore them, and he will beat the politician chosen by Washington. This is not complicated." ...
"The Democrats have already accused Rubio of using this horrific act of terror in Orlando as a justification for furthering his political career. This is a very damaging charge, and Senator Rubio has already indicated that the terrorist act is the reason he is rethinking."
"Finally, many reporters and pundits appear to be living in a parallel universe, as they claim that Rubio will be hard to beat. Really? He just got demolished 3 months ago, by the same jury he would face on August 30. This may be expensive, but it’s not hard."
The DSCC is circulating videos to remind people of Rubio’s vow not to seek re-election and for failing to show up for his Senate work while running for president.
