Patrick Murphy raised $750k after announcing Senate run
U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy said Thursday he raised $1.25 million in quarter, about $750,000 coming in the week following his March 23 announcement he would run for U.S. Senate. He now has $1.6 million cash on hand.
Murphy, D-Jupiter, is the first top-tier candidate to get in the race for the seat Marco Rubio is expected to vacate.
"Patrick has received broad support from across Florida," said Mandi Karp, finance director for Friends of Patrick Murphy. "Floridians are desperate for a Senator who is ready to get to work on day one to solve the nation's problems, and they know that Patrick has a record of getting things done for this state."
