Patrick Murphy raises $2.4 million
U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy this quarter raised $2.4 million, his campaign announced Thursday.
That leaves the Democrat congressman with $7.2 million on hand as he approaches the Aug. 30 primary for the U.S. Senate, the campaign said.
In previous fundraising cycles, Murphy has dominated among the Senate campaigns. However, with Sen. Marco Rubio's announcement that he would seek re-election, big money within the Republican party is expected to consolidate behind him.
U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, Murphy's primary opponent in the Democratic primary, has not yet released his fundraising for the last three months. Neither have Rubio or Carlos Beruff, a Republican businessman seeking the seat.
