PolitiFact Florida: Conservative group blasts DOJ over anti-Zimmerman rallies
It's a juicy claim: In the weeks after Trayvon Martin's death, the Department of Justice deployed a secretive team to Sanford "to help organize and manage rallies and protests against George Zimmerman."
On Wednesday, amid Zimmerman's trial, conservative group Judicial Watch touted the results of its year-long public records hunt about the activities of DOJ's Community Relations Service in Sanford. Citing travel vouchers and emails, the group said it could prove that DOJ employees helped organize the protests that called for Zimmerman's arrest last year.
The claim got kicked around the web, featured on Fox News, CNN, The Rush Limbaugh Show and Talking Points Memo, to name a few.
