Poll: Rick Scott 41%, Charlie Crist 41%



Hamilton Campaigns, the Democratic polling firm whose clients have included Bill Nelson, Alex Sink and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has consistently shown Gov. Rick Scott's favorability ratings higher than those of other polls. Politico reports on a Jan. 30-Feb 4, Hamilton poll that underscores what most Democrats acknowledge: Scott will be no pushover. The poll has Scott and Charlie Crist tied with 41 percent support each, and Crist handily leading other potential Democratic primary rivals.

...The poll also tested a slate of other potential Democratic candidates, including former state CFO Alex Sink, Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, former Orlando police chief Val Demings and Rep. Kathy Castor.

Of those other candidates, only Sink is known to a majority of Floridians and has a favorability split of 33 percent positive and 15 percent negative. While no Democrat fares better than Crist in the general election, the other contenders are lower-profile and may have more room to grow....

He pulls 43 percent in a hypothetical primary campaign, versus 14 percent for Sink, 4 percent for Diaz and 1 percent each for Demings and state Sen. Nan Rich....
