Protest at Marco Rubio's Tampa office leads to 3 arrests
From our friends at POLITICO:
Three LGBT activists were arrested at Sen. Marco Rubio’s Tampa office Tuesday after holding a sit-in to protest the senator’s position on same-sex couple rights in immigration reform and workplace discrimination.
According to the LGBT group GetEQUAL, the organization was also protesting Rubio’s support of a border surge, and they claim one of his staff members told police responding to the protest that a GetEQUAL co-director was in the country illegally.
University of South Florida Police confirmed that Tuesday afternoon, three people were led away, charged with trespassing and obstruction and released. A police spokeswoman said that the group was demonstrating peacefully, but was interfering with the business of the office and so were asked to leave. The three arrested did not leave when asked by officers.
