Public backlash over rental car fees gets Legislature's attention



Florida is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, making it a highly lucrative market for rental cars, and Florida also has more miles of toll roads than any other state. Amid hundreds of consumer complaints, class-action lawsuits and critical news coverage in the U.S. and Canada, some legislators are looking into the rental car industry's practice of charging service fees of up to $15 a day to cover highway toll charges. But lawmakers say they don't see the need for stronger consumer protections. The full story is here.
