Florida's Republican legislators wasted no time getting into fundraising mode Monday after the session adjourned on time last week. At 9:23 a.m. they sent out a blast email to lobbyists and donors inviting them to join them on a two-day "Mardi Gras Celebration" at Universal Orlando.
The event, held April 9-10, features "VIP Tours of Universal Studios® & Universal’s Islands of Adventure."
Donors and lobbyists are invited to join legislators for "Lunch Groups" at noon on Saturday and a "City Walk Dinner Reception" in the evening. Then there's the the " VIP Viewing of Mardi Gras Celebration Parade & Concert" in the evening. And, in an effort to make sure that every legislator who is retiring -- or has announced a run for higher office -- gets another goodbye speech, there's the "Farewell Breakfast Buffet" on Sunday.
Checks must be made out to the Republican Party of Florida (aka House majority) and the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee. This is no charity. The invite notes contributions are not tax deductible.
