Rep. Charlie Crist added to Financial Services Committee
WASHINGTON - Rep. Charlie Crist will join the Financial Services Committee, a popular destination for new members and one that helps with fundraising.
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today named Crist and three other freshmen Democrats to the committee.
“While Republicans try to dismantle the Dodd-Frank Act and put their special interests friends before the needs of hard-working American families, Democrats on the Financial Services Committee will continue to champion common sense reforms to protect American consumers," Pelosi said in a statement. “The four freshmen Members recommended for the Financial Committee will bring fresh energy, bold ideas and strategic leadership to advocate for working families, preserve and promote safe and affordable housing for all, protect our financial system from abuse and create good-paying jobs for everyone, everywhere in our country.”
Crist joins Reps. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey, Vicente Gonzalez of Texas and Ruben Kihuen of Nevada.
"I am deeply thankful for this opportunity to serve in a role directly impacting many of the key issues facing Pinellas County,” Crist said. “From this platform, I will fight to make flood insurance more affordable, defend and strengthen reform of Wall Street, and provide greater access to capital for aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses – from the local barbershop to technology startups."
