Rouson gets in fender-bender after FHA fundraiser
Florida House Democratic leader Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg, was cited in a recent fender-bender on his return from a Florida Hospital Association fundraiser in Orlando.
Rouson, who left the Morgan & Morgan law firm in May and started his own law firm in St. Petersburg, said he was in his 2011 Buick LaCrosse on Aug. 29 when he decided to stop by his new office at 4055 Central Ave. about 9:30 p.m.
But his GPS was set to his home address and it was scolding him for making a wrong turn as he approached First Ave N.
Distracted, he rear-ended a 1995 Chevrolet, he said. Asked if the driver was injured, he said "any injury would be soft tissue."
"I've put 103,000 miles on my car in two years traveling this state on behalf of my constituents," he said Sunday, noting his last accident was about eight years ago. "I regret being fatigued and distracted."
