Rubio praises Trump's selection of Nikki Haley as UN ambassador
Sen. Marco Rubio has found another Trump appointment to praise - Gov. Nikki Haley as U.N. Ambassador.
Like Rubio, she harshly criticized Trump during the primary and endorsed Rubio. But Trump still won South Carolina, putting him on a path to roll through Florida and end Rubio's hopes.
"I've been impressed with Governor Nikki Haley's leadership of South Carolina and welcome her nomination to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations," Rubio said today in a statement.
"The U.N. has consistently failed to live up to its potential. Instead of an organization speaking for the voiceless and those under attack, it far too often has been a forum for America's enemies to attack the U.S. and for the world's most brutal leaders to attempt to absolve themselves of responsibility for their crimes.
"I have led efforts in the Senate to reform the U.N. and ensure that U.S. support is conditioned on a cessation of anti-Israel rhetoric and U.N. organizations no longer funding terrorist entities. I look forward to working with Governor Haley on these and other issues once she assumes her new role."
