Rubio's campaign continues to clash with Washington duty
UPDATE 4:22 p.m.: Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos says the senator is flyng back to make today's meeting.
Marco Rubio is scheduled to miss a classified briefing today on North Korea’s weapons test, the latest conflict between Rubio’s elected duty and his need to campaign for president.
Rubio is scheduled to be in Washington tomorrow, his office said.
He has come under constant criticism from campaign rivals for missing votes and other work in Washington. Rubio has said he has more foreign affairs experience than anyone else running, which is why a missed hearing could resonate more than missing a noncontroversial vote. In November he missed a Foreign Relations briefing on the Paris attacks, though he did get briefed the day before.
