Sarah Palin cancels rally for Trump after her husband is injured in Alaska
Sarah Palin was supposed to spend a second day stumping for Donald Trump in Florida, with a planned rally in The Villages Monday.
But word just arrived that the noon event had been canceled.
A second notice received later from the Trump campaign said Palin's husband, Todd, had been injured in a "bad snow machine accident" on Sunday night and had to be hospitalized. Palin was on her way back to Alaska to be with him, the statement said.
Palin did make a surprise appearance at Trump's rally at the Tampa Convention Center.
Todd Palin's father later told the Associated Press that his son suffered eight fractured ribs and other injuries in the snowmobile accident. Jim Palin said his son also had injuries to his collarbone and lungs, but he didn't know the extent of those injuries. He said Todd Palin was scheduled for surgery later Monday at a hospital near the Palins' hometown of Wasilla.
Jim Palin said he expects his son to recover fully and that the crash Sunday night "one of those freak accidents."
