Scenes from a protest at Marco Rubio's Tampa office

About 75 protesters from a coalition of groups fighting for climate and social justice picketed in front of Sen. Marco Rubio's office at 5201 W. Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa on Monday. Times photographer James Borchuck caught the scene, part of a national day of action where groups are urging senators to stand against President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet picks.

“Rex Tillerson’s role as former CEO of ExxonMobil is a clear conflict of interest should he be confirmed as Secretary of State, particularly with his strong business ties in Russia and the role that he would play in global politics,” reads a release from 350 Tampa Bay, which noted members of Greenpeace, Sierra Club and Organize Now would be involved in the afternoon event.
