Senate candidates commit to RPOF summit alongside Bush, Rubio, Trump
All four Republican candidates will attend the party’s Sunshine Summit in Orlando this November, the event that will also include major presidential candidates.
U.S. Reps. Ron DeSantis and David Jolly, Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera and veteran and businessman Todd Wilcox will take part in the event, RPOF announced Monday.
No word on CFO Jeff Atwater -- then again, he hasn't officially entered the race.
“In 2016, Florida will not only play a key role in the race for the White House but an important role in maintaining a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate,” RPOF chairman Blaise Ingoglia said in a written statement. “That is why the participation of the U.S. Senate candidates at the Sunshine Summit is a valuable addition to the growing line up of speakers.”
The Sunshine Summit has previously been caught up in controversy over how Republican presidential hopefuls will make the party’s primary ballot in the state. RPOF walked back from a rule requiring their attendance at the event Nov. 12-14, but it is now one of three ways to qualify for the ballot.
A dozen candidates have committed to attend, including Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Donald Trump.
