David Jolly will announce Friday morning whether he will remain in the U.S. Senate race or seek re-election to the House.

Jolly told the Tampa Bay Times he will make his decision regardless of whether Marco Rubio has said what he will do. Jolly plans an 11 a.m. event in his Pinellas County district.

"I need to clear the air on all the speculation," Jolly said. "I think Marco does as well."

Jolly remains convinced Rubio will run for re-election. "I think he clearly has a conviction for service. I think he's rediscovered the job in some ways. ... He's showing leadership in the Senate. This is someone who has served the state for (a long time) and I think he's realizing he might have more to contribute."

Rubio, who attended a Florida delegation meeting on Zika, declined to answer a question the race.

In other Jolly news, he was on Fox News this morning talking how he walked out of a House meeting yesterday regarding the Orlando massacre. Jolly said he bailed when the discussion turned to gun control.
