Serious injuries in late-night crash on boat owned by senator
At least three people were injured early Tuesday in an accident on Lake Maitland near Orlando on a boat registered to a company owned by Sen. David Simmons, R-Altamonte Springs.
Simmons was not on the watercraft, but he told the Orlando Sentinel that his daughter was and that she was taken to a hospital with a broken leg. The newspaper quoted a local law enforcement official as saying that alcohol "may have been a factor" in the crash of the Sea-Doo boat shortly before 1 a.m. and that as many as eight people were on the boat at the time of the crash.
WESH-Channel 2 in Orlando reported the boat crashed into the dock of a lakefront home.
