So much for the Florida GOP advantage in mail ballots
For decades, Florida Republicans have pulled in far more mail-in votes than Democrats. Since 2008, Democrats have overcome that Republican, mail-in lead through early, in-person voting. Today, however, is likely to mark the first time that Democrats have surpassed Republicans in mail-ballots cast before election day.
As of this morning nearly 513,000 Floridians have voted, including 210,629 Republicans, 210,595 Democrats, 91,626 people registered to neither major party.
Still, about 982,000 Republican had mail ballots not returned, compared to 941,000 Democrats.
