Tampa does not get legislative appropriation for Riverfront Park
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn's planned $35 million redevelopment of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park will have to proceed without money from the state this year.
Buckhorn had lobbied legislators for the funds, but city spokeswoman Ashley Bauman said Tuesday the Legislature's $80 billion proposed budget, which was finished late Monday night, does not include the appropriation.
Still, Buckhorn has said the 23-acre project - something he sees as a legacy to the city - would go forward with or without state funding.
"We're going to get this done one way or the other," Buckhorn said in January.
