Ted Cruz finally caved.

The man who enraged and pleased Republicans by speaking at the GOP convention without endorsing Donald Trump did today. In doing so, Trump carved out a position not unlike Marco Rubio, who had a lot of bad things to say about Trump on the campaign trail but had come to support him as a show of party loyalty and to prove he wanted nothing more than to defeat Hillary Clinton.

If Trump loses, Rubio and Cruz could be rivals again in 2020. Here's how Cruz framed his decision:

Our country is in crisis. Hillary Clinton is manifestly unfit to be president, and her policies would harm millions of Americans. And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way.

A year ago, I pledged to endorse the Republican nominee, and I am honoring that commitment. And if you don’t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him.

Jeb Bush remains oppoosed to Trump.
